Our Music Director

Victoria Petrak is a conductor, educator, and performer living in Elkhart, Indiana. She is the director of orchestras at Concord Community Schools, the music director of the Goshen College Youth Honors Orchestra program, assistant conductor for the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra and was appointed Music Director of the Maple City Community Orchestra in Goshen.

While completing her master’s degree under Dr. Jungho Kim, she worked with the Kent State University Orchestra, Opera Production and Scenes, and New Music Ensemble. In addition to her graduate studies, she taught Orchestra in the Shaker Heights school district, was on the music faculty at Camp Encore/ CODA in Sweden, Maine, and worked as an ensemble manager and assistant at Interlochen Arts Camp. 

Victoria has studied conductors Marin Alsop and James Ross (NOI), Dr. Octavio Mas-Arocas, John Farrer and Howard Williams (RTÉ NSO), Kevin Noe (MSU), and participated in the National Music Festival in Annapolis, Maryland. 

She is an advocate for contemporary music and composers and has conducted multiple world premieres, including: the US premiere of Fay Wang’s The Play of Toys with the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, Scott Little’s opera Story of an Hour with the Kent State University Opera scenes program, and Jorge Morales’ Uyuni Bolivia with the Tacoma Symphony. 

She is passionate about building community through music, and plays violin and viola. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, playing music with friends, and spending time with her dog, Meeko.
